A distanza di due anni da "As I Am", uno dei dischi più venduti in America fra il 2007-2009, la bellissima Alicia torna a regalarci emozioni con "The Element of Freedom" disponibile dal 15 dicembre in ben 3 versioni differenti. Normale, Deluxe Edition CD e Deluxe Edition DVD. I primi due singoli sono già stati pubblicati e sono: "Doesn't Mean Anything" e "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart". Nell'album vi è la partecipazione del marito Jay-z e il duetto con Beyoncè in "Put It In A Love Song". Il disco è pubblicato sotto etichetta J Records.
